چکیده
We present TOI-1259Ab, a 1.0 Rjup gas giant planet transiting 0.71 Rsun K-dwarf on 3.48 day orbit. The system also contains bound white dwarf companion TOI-1259B with projected distance of approximately 1600 AU from the host. Transits are observed in nine TESS sector and 2.7 per cent deep - among deepest known making TOI-1259Ab promising target for atmospheric characterization. Our follow-up radial velocity measurements indicate variability semiamplitude K = 71 m/s, implying mass 0.44 Mjup. By fitting spectral energy distribution we derive total age 4.08 (+1.21 -0.53) Gyr system. K-dwarf's light curve reveals rotational period 28 days, which implies gyrochronology broadly consistent dwarf's age.

Transmission Spectra During Extrasolar Giant Planet Transits
The recent transit observation of HD 209458 b — an extrasolar planet orbiting a sun-like star — confirmed that it is a gas giant and determined that its orbital inclination is 85 •. This inclination makes possible investigations of the planet atmosphere. In this paper we discuss the planet transmission spectra during a transit. The basic tenet of the method is that the planet atmosphere absorpt...
متن کاملTheory of Extrasolar Giant Planet Transits
We present a synthesis of physical effects influencing the observed lightcurve of an extrasolar giant planet (EGP) transiting its host star. The synthesis includes a treatment of Rayleigh scattering, cloud scattering, refraction, and molecular absorption of starlight in the EGP atmosphere. Of these effects, molecular absorption dominates in determining the transit-derived radius R, for planetar...
متن کاملA Possible Brown Dwarf Companion to the White Dwarf Gd1400
An unresolved, likely L dwarf companion to the DA white dwarf GD1400 is reported. This would be only the second such system known, discovered 17 years after the prototype L dwarf, GD165B, was determined to be a companion to a white dwarf. Photometric observations and model predicted stellar parameters of the well studied white dwarf primary indicate that GD1400B has J−K & 2.0 and MK = 12.13 mag...

متن کاملAstronomy and Astrophysics the Closest Extrasolar Planet a Giant Planet around the M4 Dwarf Gl 876
Precise radial velocity observations of the nearby M4 dwarf Gl 876 with the Observatoire de Haute Provence 1.93 m telescope and the new 1.20 m swiss telescope at la Silla indicate the presence of a jovian mass companion to this star. The orbital fit to the data gives a period of 60.8 days, a velocity amplitude of 246m.s −1 and an eccentricity of 0.34. Assuming that Gl 876 has a mass of 0.3 M ⊙ ...
